SENIOR DIRECTOR, WINNIPEG PLANT
Employing over 1200 people between its facilities in Winnipeg and Ottawa, our client, the Royal Canadian Mint, is ready to welcome a new Senior Director, Winnipeg Plant to their senior management team. The Mint is a commercial Crown Corporation that competes internationally for the production and sale of circulation coinage, precious metals, refinery services, collector products and medals in both
Canadian and international markets. The Senior Director, Winnipeg Plant, will be responsible for the leadership of the business operations and oversee administration activities of the Winnipeg manufacturing facility.
The incumbent will participate as a member of the company’s senior leadership team contributing to the development and execution of the Winnipeg plant’s manufacturing strategic plan and alignment with the overall strategic sales objectives. This includes working with other members of Senior Management to realize efficiencies and synergies across the organization, including Head Office and Foreign Sales staff.
æ Develop and execute strategic plans that will deliver excellent quality products while aggressively pursuing opportunities for continual cost reduction.
æ Optimize production of the Winnipeg facility by implementing best-in-class productivity enhancing initiatives, including lean-manufacturing practices and cost reducing initiatives.
æ Ensure the operational and financial targets are met for the facility.
æ Work with senior management to develop short and long-term plans and to establish weekly, monthly and yearly priorities and then allocate resources as necessary to accomplish priorities.
æ Direct the manufacture of cost effective products consistent with established specifications as to quality and quantity.
æ Prepare reports on productivity, efficiencies, health & safety, cost control, production planning and estimates, as well as manpower and facilities requirements forecasts.
æ Build the organization’s bench strength, developing existing talent to their full potential while selectively recruiting where gaps exist.
æ Coordinate and collaborate with other departments of the corporation in establishing and carrying out responsibilities: Engineering Environment, Quality, Sales, Marketing & Communications, Purchasing, Health & Safety, Human Resources, Legal and Security.
