FMC’s Prince George manufacturing facility seeks an intermediate to senior Chemical Engineer to support the Production Department within the Industrial Chemicals Division’s Peroxygens Group.

BASIC PURPOSE:

• To perform fundamental or applied technical work to develop/modify chemical processes

• To make improvements to existing processes and products as assigned in order to meet and customer standards

As the Manufacturing Engineer you will be charged with implementing the resources required to monitor and improve the safety efficiency and quality of plant operations and provide day to day support for existing plant processes. This includes the execution of small capital projects and process studies, day to day monitoring of process conditions and providing troubleshooting support. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for process changes via programs or capital project execution, the support of DCS equipment required to operate the plant, and improving process control strategies via process automation, measurement and control.

Responsibilities:

Safety and Health

To participate in plant’s safety and health policies and procedures by ensuring that all processes and modifications to existing processes have been critically reviewed for safety and health considerations and by practicing and providing training assistance in safe work methods as prescribed by the plant safety and health policy To audit performance in assigned process areas against minimum safety standards in order to ensure employee, customer and visitor safety Oversee interlock testing to ensure all interlocks are checked and functional within the required frequency Participate in safety reviews and PHAs Write MOCs

Production Support

Review operating conditions for variations and recommend correction actions Train operations as needed Review operating conditions at a high level and resolve where reasonable (less than one day) otherwise involve technical department for further analysis. Oversee SOP reviews and monitoring of SOP system To identify and develop process changes and modifications to enhance operating reliability and product quality and to improve efficiencies of key resources as directed To monitor environmental regulations and performance against such To perform AFE justification studies and follow-up reports To investigate customer complaints as directed in order to maintain or surpass customer, and Corporate standards in a safe, efficient, cost effective manner Distributed Control Systems To provide process control engineering support including control logic development, DCS programming, process troubleshooting, calculating/defining loop tuning parameters, etc To maintain the integrity and documentation for the DCS Ensure software is up-to-date on DCS systems and system back-ups are performed Ensure DCS systems meet standards Coordinate new point configuration, graphics updates Activities required to ensure reliable system performance (e.g. spare parts management, process historian maintenance, etc)

Quality Assurance

To evaluate process changes, new processes and equipment, etc., to determine requirements for measurement accuracy for plant instruments and equipment To submit changes to Process and Instrument Diagrams To participate in quality training provided in order to ensure that quality product is manufactured to customer specifications Cost Control To ensure timely and cost effective project execution with minimum disruption of regular plant production To ensure that engineering resources are utilized in such a way as to improve cost awareness To assist in preparation of capital and expense budgets To perform periodic review of capital spending in order to ensure favorable performance against the plant budget Human Resources/Personal Development To set personal objectives To participate as a team member and maintain working relationships with site groups, To accept the culture, philosophy and responsibility involved in the team concept system toward being a valued and respected member of the team

Required Education:

B.S. Chemical Engineering degree with 3-5 yrs process or project engineering experience

Qualifications:

Understanding of basic theory and practice of the technical field.

Prior line or staff experience or experience in an engineering or maintenance department in a chemical plant desirable.

Working knowledge of specific PXD technologies and applications.

Competencies:

Grade 16 – 1-4 years of experience

Grade 17 – 4+ years of experience

- You have demonstrated experience and success in SAP/ERP systems implementation

As real time data acquisition and robotics capabilities improve, new opportunities are available and some old challenges are no more. This presentation from Lincoln Electric will first provide an overview of the current challenges associated with the GMAW (MIG) process in production environment. Then, we will review the latest tools in data acquisition which include real time scoring of welds, production monitoring and the latest waveform for welding. We will conclude with an overview of the current state of robotic welding and the latest development which include vision and off-line programming. This presentation is designed for anybody involved in or interested in welding.
